چکیده

We present mid-IR spectroscopy of three T Tauri stars in the young Chamealeon I dark cloud obtained with TIMMI2 on the ESO 3.6m telescope. In these three stars, the silicate emission band at 9.7 μm is prominent. We model it with a mixture of amorphous olivine grains of different size, crystalline silicates and silica. The fractional mass of these various components change widely from star to star. While the spectrum of CR Cha is dominated by small amorphous silicates, in VW Cha (and in a lesser degree in Glass I), there is clear evidence of a large amount of processed dust in the form of crystalline silicates and large amorphous grains. This is the first time that processed dust has been detetected in very young T Tauri stars (∼ 1 Myr).

A Survey and Analysis of Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph Spectra of T Tauri Stars in Taurus

We present mid-infrared spectra of T Tauri stars in the Taurus star-forming region obtained with the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS). For the first time, the 5–36 μm spectra of a large sample of T Tauri stars belonging to the same star-forming region is studied, revealing details of the midinfrared excess due to dust in circumstellar disks. We analyze common features and differences in the ...

Disk Evolution in the Three Nearby Star-forming Regions of Taurus, Chamaeleon, and Ophiuchus

We analyze samples of Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) spectra of T Tauri stars in the Ophiuchus, Taurus, and Chamaeleon I star-forming regions, whose median ages lie in the < 1 to 2 Myr range. The median mid-infrared spectra of objects in these three regions are similar in shape, suggesting, on average, similar disk structures. When normalized to the same stellar luminosity, the medians fol...

D ec 1 99 9 Silicate Emission in T Tauri Stars : Evidence for Disk Atmospheres ?

We present low-resolution mid–infrared spectra of nine classical T Tauri stars associated with the Chamaeleon I dark cloud. The data were obtained with the PHOT-S instrument on–board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) in the two wavelength ranges 2.5–4.9 and 5.9–11.7 μm. All nine stars show evidence of silicate emission at 10 μm, which is the only prominent feature in the spectra. We discuss ...

Constraining the Lifetime of Circumstellar Disks in the Terrestrial Planet Zone: A Mid-IR Survey of the 30-Myr-old Tucana-Horologium Association

We have conducted an N-band survey of 14 young stars in the ∼30 Myr-old Tucana-Horologium Association to search for evidence of warm, circumstellar dust disks. Using the MIRAC-BLINC camera on the Magellan I (Baade) 6.5-m telescope, we find that none of the stars have a statistically significant N-band excess compared to the predicted stellar photospheric flux. Using three different sets of assu...
